I’m surprised by the comments. I agree the directions are garbage, but the install to me was self explanatory. I could see it being a challenge for someone not mechanically inclined.
I made a 2’x4′ pine chest and one of these was more than adequate to hold the lid up, see my attached photo. I think the quality matches the price point. If needing something that’s going to take a little abuse, like a toy box, these might not work for you, but I think they more than make the grade in most applications.

I got these for my deck boxes because I was tired of being crushed everytime I opened one to get something out. These were easy to put on the boxes and it does keep the lids open. No more bruises on the back of my arms!

I had tried other gas spring products for a lighter weight cabinet door. They were too strong. These hinges offer a great adjustment range for closing resistance. However, the instructions are not very clear. Luckily, I got them to work as desired on the first set of screw holes.

I have swing UP cabinet doors on my entertainment center, and they did have soft close hinges, but the old school locking rod design was aggravating.
In came the support hinge, and my life is 100% better, it locks open both half and fully open, and it does not interfere with the soft close hinges when closing!
